Erik Adigard
Erik Adigard, born in 1953 in the Republic of Congo, studied graphic design at the California College of the Arts. He is co-founder of the design studio M-A-D at the interface of communication design and multimedia art. Adigard's artistic work includes numerous image contributions for Wired magazine, experimental websites such as LiveWired and Madscroll, branding campaigns for IBM and many commissions for exhibitions, such as the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2008 (with Chris Salter) and 2012. Adigard's work has been shown in museums, biennials, film festivals and publications in many places. He also received the Chrysler Award for Design Innovation. Other art projects have included commissions for the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA), the Saint-Etienne International Design Biennale, Villette Numérique in Paris and the Muffathalle in Munich. Adigard also lectures, teaches, juries, consults and writes about design and media. He is a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale and the American Institute of Graphic Arts.
