Graphic Design: is it still a thing?

Statement

What I'm looking forward to in Basel:
Although I joined AGI before the pandemic, this is my first Congress. I am really looking forward to joining the international community of inspiring practitioners, and bringing that inspiration back to my home in Los Angeles.

Biography

Lorraine Wild is a graphic designer in Los Angeles. She is the principal of Green Dragon Office, a design firm that focuses on collaborative work with artists, architects, curators, editors and publishers. Wild also serves as the Consulting Creative Director at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), where she contributes to the design of publications, exhibitions, and the visual identity of the Museum. She is also a faculty member of the Graphic Design program at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts).

In 2006, Wild received the most prestigious award in the US for graphic design: the AIGA Gold Medal . She has also received numerous awards from the New York Art Director’s Club, the American Center for Design, the American Institute of Architects, and the American Association of Museums. Wild’s award-winning books have been included in Design Observer’s (formerly AIGA’s) selective “50 Books/50 Covers” competition over 25 times.

Recent projects include the design of books and exhibition catalogues for LACMA, the Hammer Museum, the Getty Research Institute, MOCA, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Wild is a graduate of the Cranbrook Academy of Art, and the Yale School of Art. She is on Cranbrook’s National Advisory Board, and is a member of the Los Angeles Institute for the Humanities at USC.
