Atelier ter Bekke & Behage

Evelyn ter Bekke and Dirk Behage are the founders of Atelier ter Bekke & Behage, a Paris-based graphic design studio the pair established after meeting in 1997. Ter Bekke studied graphic design at the St Joost School of Art and Design in Breda, Netherlands, before working at Studio Karelse & den Besten in Rotterdam, and has lived and worked in Paris since 1996. Behage studied at the Academy of Visual Arts and Design in Groningen, worked with Studio Dumbar on the visual identity of the City of Groningen, and in 1987 joined the Grapus collective in Paris, later co-founding Atelier de Création Graphique with Pierre Bernard.

Together, the Atelier has spent nearly three decades producing work for the public and cultural sectors in France, with a strong focus on visual identity, signage systems, editorial and poster design — including institutional identities for the Odéon–Théâtre de l'Europe (since 2017), Théâtre – Scène Nationale de Saint-Nazaire (since 2018), and the Musée National de Préhistoire, among others. Their work is held in public collections including the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, and in 2022 the national graphic design centre Le Signe in Chaumont mounted a full retrospective of the studio's output.
