David Smith

David Smith is President of IADT, Ireland's largest Art, Design & Film school and home to the National Film School, having previously served as Head of its Faculty of Film, Art & Creative Technologies and as Senior Lecturer and Programme Chair of Visual Communications. He also sits on the boards of THEA, EduCampus DAC, and Creative Futures Academy.

David is the founder and principal of Atelier Projects, one of Ireland's most awarded design studios. He graduated from Dun Laoghaire College of Art & Design in 1993, later studying under Jean Widmer at L'Atelier National de Recherche Typographique in Paris, and worked in Paris and Amsterdam before establishing his Atelier in Dublin in 2000.

In 2012, he founded the 100Archive for Irish design. In 2010, he became the first Irish designer inducted into the Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI), later serving as AGI Executive for Education (2012–2016) and International Secretary (2016–2019). He is also a member of the National Design Forum and a former contributor to the Year of Irish Design and National Strategy for Design.
