Javier Jaén Studio
Javier Jaén (Barcelona, 1983) studied graphic design and fine arts in Barcelona, New York, and Budapest. His professional activity focuses on editorial illustration, book covers, audiovisual projects, advertising, cultural communication, and the creation of his own work. He translates stories and concepts into images using a symbolic and playful language.
He has worked for The New York Times, The New Yorker, Time, The Washington Post, Harvard University, National Geographic, Greenpeace, Penguin Random House, Vueling, UNESCO, Camper, Louis Vuitton, Netflix, Warner, Centro Dramático Nacional, Zara, Microsoft, CCCB, MoMA Design Store, and Pedro Almodóvar, among others.
His work has been recognized by the Society of Illustrators (Illustrators 55, 56, 60), American Illustration (AI33, AI34, AI38, AI39), Print Magazine (New Visual Artist 2013), Junceda Award (2013), Gráffica Award (2010), Laus (Grand Laus 2016, Gold 2017, Silver 2018), D&AD Pencil (2017), The Society of Publication Designers (Gold 2018), Premios Feroz (2022), and the Society for News Design (2022). He has participated in exhibitions in New York, London, Mexico, El Salvador, Vicenza, Bilbao, Seoul, Rotterdam, and Rome. Since 2015, he has been a member of AGI (Alliance Graphique Internationale). In 2020, he was named by Forbes as one of the 100 most creative Spaniards.
He has been a professor at the European Institute of Design, Elisava, BAU, and IDEP, and frequently conducts workshops and lectures at various international art and design schools.
He has not yet written a child, planted a book or given birth to a tree.
