Nikki Gonnissen & Thomas Widdershoven

Nikki Gonnissen and Thomas Widdershoven are co-founders of Thonik, an Amsterdam-based design studio founded in 1993, known for a bold, conceptual approach to visual communication, graphic identity, interaction and motion design. Nikki has served as International President of Alliance Graphique Internationale from 2015 to 2018, while Thomas is a former creative director and chairman of the board of Design Academy Eindhoven

Together, they've built identities and campaigns for major cultural institutions including Museum Boijmans van Beuningen in Rotterdam, the Architecture Biennale Venice, the Power Station of Art in Shanghai, and the Holland Festival, alongside public-sector clients like the Dutch Central Government, VPRO, and a major Dutch political party. The studio takes a deceptively simple, conceptual approach to typography, and its work is held in the permanent collection of the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
